Said the Chiefs of the people of Pharaoh: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed. 109 who desires to expel you from your land; what do you command?' 110 They said: "Keep him and his brother in suspense (for a while); and send to the cities men to collect- 111 to bring thee every cunning sorcerer.' 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh and asked, "Shall we have a reward, if we should prevail?" 113 "Yes," said he, "you will be among the honoured." 114 They said, “O Moosa! You may throw first – or shall we be the first to throw?” 115 Moses said: 'You throw.' So when they threw [their rods], they enchanted the eyes of the people, and struck them with awe, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 And We revealed to Moses: 'Cast thy staff!' And lo, it forthwith swallowed up their lying invention. 117 ۞ Thus the truth prevailed, and that which they had brought vanished. 118 Thus they were vanquished there, and they went back abased. 119 and the magicians flung themselves prostrate, 120 saying: 'We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 121 The Lord of Musa and Harun. 122 Said Firaun, “You have accepted faith in Him before I gave you permission! This is indeed a grand conspiracy you have plotted in the city, in order to expel its people from it; so now you will come to know!” 123 I will certainly cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, then will I crucify you all together. 124 They replied: 'We shall surely turn to our Lord. 125 Thou takest vengeance upon us only because we have believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Our Lord, pour out upon us patience, and gather us unto Thee surrendering.' 126
