(The tribe of) Thamud rejected warnings 23 For they said; Is it a mortal man, alone among us, that we are to follow? Then indeed we should fall into error and madness. 24 How is it that he has received guidance? In fact, he is the most untruthfull and arrogant person". 25 'They shall surely know tomorrow who is the impudent liar. 26 They shall send the She-camel as a trial for them; so watch thou them and keep patience. 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn]. 28 But they called their commander, who seized and hamstrung her. 29 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 30 Verily, We sent against them a single Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.), and they became like the dry stubble of a fold-builder. 31 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition: is there then any one who would be admonished. 32 The people of Lut belied the warnings. 33 and behold, We let loose upon them a tempest which rained stones upon them, except upon Lot's household whom We rescued in the last hours of the night 34 as a blessing from Us: this is how We reward the thankful. 35 He had warned them of Our might, but they passed over the warnings. 36 And certainly they endeavored to turn him from his guests, but We blinded their eyes; so taste My chastisement and My warning. 37 And in truth the punishment decreed befell them early in the morning. 38 So taste My punishment and warning. 39 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 40
