The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the Great News 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
