The Ant (Al-Naml)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Ta-Seen*; these are verses of the Qur’an and the clear Book. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah, and to whomever he reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 it is guidance and good news for the believers 2 Who keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, and of the hereafter, they are sure. 3 We have made those who do not believe in the Hereafter feel their actions appear good to them, so they wander blindly: 4 They are those who will suffer the worst chastisement in this life, and will be the greatest losers in the life to come. 5 And verily thou art receiving the Qur'an from before the Wise, the Knowing. 6 Lo! [While lost in the desert,] Moses said to his family: "Behold, I perceive a fire [far away]; I may bring you from there some tiding [as to which way we are to pursue,] or bring you [at least] a burning brand so that you might warm yourselves." 7 And when he came near it he was called: 'Blessed be who is (Moses) in the fire and (the angels) who are around it! Exaltations to Allah, Lord of the Worlds! 8 O Moses! Lo! it is I, Allah, the Mighty, the Wise. 9 Cast down your staff' And when he saw it writhing like a serpent, he turned about retreating, and did not turn back. 'Moses, do not fear, indeed the Messengers do not fear (when they are) with Me, 10 and neither need anyone who has done wrong and then has replaced the wrong with good: for, verily, I am much-forgiving, a dispenser of grace! 11 "Now place thy hand into thy bosom: it will come forth [shining] white, without blemish!" [And thou shalt go] with nine [of My] messages unto Pharaoh and his people for, verily, they are people depraved!" 12 But when Our Clear Signs came to them, they said: "This is plain magic." 13 And they persisted in rejecting them wrongfully and arrogantly, while in their hearts they were convinced of their truth. Observe, then, how evil was the fate of the evil-doers. 14
