The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the Mount 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 In parchment spread open 3 By the much-frequented Fane; 4 by the elevated canopy; 5 And the swollen sea, 6 the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, 11 such as play at plunging, 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 and they will be told, "This is the fire which you called a lie. 14 Then is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". 16 Lo! those who kept their duty dwell in gardens and delight, 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. 20 We shall unite the believers with those descendants of theirs who followed them in their faith, and shall not deny them any part of the reward for their good deeds. Every person is pledged to what he did. 21 And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will go to one another asking each other questions: 25 Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 "Verily, We used to invoke Him (Alone and none else) before. Verily, He is Al-Barr (the Most Subtle, Kind, Courteous, and Generous), the Most Merciful." 28
