۞ Surely We had bestowed wisdom upon Abraham even earlier, and We knew him well. 51 when he said unto his father and his people, "What are these images to which you are so intensely devoted?" 52 They said: We found our fathers worshipping them. 53 He said: "Certainly you and your fathers have all been in manifest error." 54 They exclaimed, "Have you brought the Truth or are you joking?" 55 Abraham replied, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them, and I bear witness to that. 56 And, by Allah, I shall circumvent your idols after ye have gone away and turned your backs. 57 Then he broke them all into pieces, sparing only the supreme one among them that they may possibly return to him. 58 They said: who hath wrought this to our gods? verily he is of the wrong-doers. 59 They said, 'We heard a young man making mention of them, and he was called Abraham.' 60 They said, "Then bring him here in the sight of all the people, so that they may act as witnesses." 61 They asked, "Abraham, did you do this to our idols?" 62 He answered: "Rather it was this supreme one who has done it. So ask them, if they can speak." 63 Thereupon they realized their own foolishness and said, "We ourselves are wrong-doers". 64 And they were utterly confounded, and they said: Well thou knowest that these speak not. 65 He said, “What! You worship, instead of Allah, one that neither benefits you nor harms you?” 66 "Fie upon you, and upon the things that ye worship besides Allah! Have ye no sense?".. 67 They said: burn him, and succour your gods, if ye will be doing. 68 We (Allah) said: "O fire! Be you coolness and safety for Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 69 And they wished to cause him harm, so We made them the greatest of losers. 70 And We rescued him and Lout (Lot) to the land which We have blessed for the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac and [Isaac's son] Jacob as an additional gift and caused all of them to be righteous men, 72 And We made them leaders who guide by Our command, and We sent them the divine revelation to do good deeds and to keep the prayer established and to give charity; and they used to worship Us. 73 And unto Lot we gave judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him from the community that did abominations. Lo! they were folk of evil, lewd. 74 We admitted him to Our mercy; he was a righteous man. 75
