The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and shade extended, 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 So made them as maidens. 36 chastely amorous, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
