The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
