The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
