Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In a Garden on high, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
