▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay, by the moon, 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 A warning to mankind, 36 to everyone of you, whether he chooses to come forward or to hang back! 37 Every soul will be in captivity for its deeds 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 In Gardens they will question 40 concerning the sinners, 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56

Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
