And (remember) when you slew a man and were therefore accusing each other concerning it; and Allah wanted to expose what you were hiding. 72 We said, "Strike [the corpse] with a part of it." Thus God restores the dead to life and shows you His signs, so that you may understand. 73 Then your hearts became hardened after that, being like stones or even harder. For indeed, there are stones from which rivers burst forth, and there are some of them that split open and water comes out, and there are some of them that fall down for fear of Allah. And Allah is not unaware of what you do. 74 ۞ Do you then hope that they will believe in you, when some of them have already heard the Word of Allah and knowingly tampered with it, after they understood it! 75 And when they meet those who believe, they say 'We believe'; and when they go privily one to another, they say, 'Do you speak to them of what God has revealed to you, that they may thereby dispute with you before your Lord? Have you no understanding?' 76 Do they not know, then, that God is aware of all that they would conceal as well as of all that they bring into the open? 77 And there are among them illiterates, who know not the Book, but (see therein their own) desires, and they do nothing but conjecture. 78 So woe to those who write the "scripture" with their own hands, then say, "This is from Allah," in order to exchange it for a small price. Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they earn. 79 They also say, "The fire of Hell is not going to touch us, and even if it does at all, it will be only for a few days". Say, "Have you obtained a promise from Allah which He would not break? Or, do you attribute to Allah things you do not know? Why will not the fire of Hell touch you? 80 Why, they who have earned the wages of sin and are enclosed in error, are people of Hell, where they will abide for ever. 81 But those who believe and do good deeds are people of Paradise, and shall live there forever. 82
