Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 and prepared goblets, 14 cushions ranged, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
