Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 No! I swear by the reproachful soul. 2 Do men think that We shall never be able to assemble their bones? 3 We certainly have the power to restore them even the very tips of their finger. 4 But man desires to persist in his evil ways. 5 He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 So when the sight becomes dazed, 7 And the moon is buried in darkness. 8 And the sun and the moon shall be joined. 9 on that Day will man say: “Whither the refuge?” 10 No! There is no refuge! 11 With thy Sustainer, on that Day, the journey's end will be! 12 Upon that day man shall be told his former deeds and his latter; 13 Oh, but man is a telling witness against himself, 14 Though he may put forth his excuses (to cover his evil deeds). 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation. 17 Wherefore when We recite it, follow thou the reciting thereof. 18 Then lo! upon Us (resteth) the explanation thereof. 19 No indeed; but you love the hasty world, 20 and are oblivious of the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 22 gazing upon their Lord; 23 And how many faces on that Day will be woe-begone 24 certain of facing a great calamity. 25 Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat 26 And they will say, “Is there any one – any magician?” 27 And he (the dying person) will conclude that it was (the time) of departing (death); 28 When legs are twisted around each other, 29 at that time towards thy Sustainer does he feel impelled to turn! 30
