The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
