The people of al-Hijr also rejected Our messengers: 80 And We brought Our signs unto them, yet they were averting themselves therefrom. 81 And they hewed houses in the mountains in security. 82 But As-Saihah (torment - awful cry etc.) overtook them in the early morning (of the fourth day of their promised punishment days). 83 and that which they had earned did not help them. 84 And We have not created the heaven and the earth and that which is in between them save with a purpose. And verily the Hour is surely coming; so overlook thou with a seemly overlooking, 85 Indeed, your Lord - He is the Knowing Creator. 86 And indeed, We have bestowed upon you seven of Al-Mathani (the seven repeatedly recited Verses), (i.e. Surat Al-Fatiha) and the Grand Quran. 87 Do not strain your eyes towards the worldly benefits We have bestowed on some of them, nor grieve on their account. Lower your wing of mercy for the believers 88 And say: 'I am the plain warner' 89 (We have given you the Quran) as We had given (the Bible) to those who divided themselves into groups 90 Those who break the Qur'an into parts. 91 But, by thy Sustainer! [On the Day of Judgment] We shall indeed call them to account, one and all, 92 concerning what they have been doing. 93 Hence, proclaim openly all that thou hast been bidden [to say,] and leave alone all those who ascribe divinity to aught beside God: 94 Lo! We defend thee from the scoffers, 95 Who make [equal] with Allah another deity. But they are going to know. 96 We do indeed know how thy heart is distressed at what they say. 97 But you should glorify your Lord with praises, and be among those who bow in submission; 98 and worship thy Sustainer till death comes to thee. 99
