The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who teacheth by the pen, 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
