Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
