۞ And indeed We bestowed Ibrahim with guidance from the beginning, and We were Aware of him. 51 When he said to his father and his people, “What are these idols before whom you squat (worshipping)?” 52 They replied: 'We found our fathers worshipping them' 53 He said: "Indeed you and your fathers have been in manifest error." 54 They said, 'What, hast thou come to us with the truth, or art thou one of those that play?' 55 He said, "[No], rather, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who created them, and I, to that, am of those who testify. 56 “And, by oath of Allah, I shall seek to harm your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs.” 57 He shattered them all, except the biggest among them, that perhaps they may question it. 58 They said: Who has done this to our gods? Most surely he is one of the unjust. 59 They said, "We heard a youth talk of them: He is called Abraham." 60 [The others] said: "Then bring him before the peoples eyes, so that they might bear witness [against him]!" 61 They said, "Art thou the one that did this with our gods, O Abraham?" 62 He answered, "Rather this biggest one of them did it. Ask them, if they can speak." 63 So they returned one to another, and they said, 'Surely it is you who are the evildoers.' 64 Then their minds were turned upside down, and they said: "You know well that they do not speak." 65 Said [Abraham]: "Do you then worship, instead of God, something that cannot benefit you in any way, nor harm you? 66 Fie on you and those you worship besides God! Will you not understand?" 67 They said, “Burn him and help your Gods, if you want to.” 68 [But] We said: O fire! Be thou cool, and [a source of] inner peace for Abraham!" 69 And they wished to set a snare for him, but We made them the greater losers. 70 But We delivered him and (his nephew) Lut (and directed them) to the land which We have blessed for the nations. 71 We bestowed Isaac and then Jacob on him as an additional boon and We made all of them righteous. 72 And We made them leaders to guide (the people) by Our command; and We inspired them to perform good deeds and observe their moral obligations and pay the zakat; and they obeyed Us. 73 And Lot -- to him We gave judgment and knowledge; and we delivered him from the city that had been doing deeds of corruption; they were an evil people, truly ungodly; 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy. Verily he was of the righteous. 75
