There is a sign for them in the lifeless earth. We revive it and We produce grain from it of which they eat. 33 And there We made gardens of palms and vines, and in it We caused fountains to gush forth, 34 That they may eat of the fruit thereof; and their hands worked it not. Will they not, therefore, give thanks? 35 Limitless in His glory is He who has created opposites in whatever the earth produces, and in men's own selves, and in that of which [as yet] they have no knowledge. 36 And a sign for them is the night; We strip it of the day and lo, they are in darkness. 37 And the sun runs its course for its final destination; this is a command of the Almighty, the All Knowing. 38 And (as for) the moon, We have ordained for it stages till it becomes again as an old dry palm branch. 39 [and] neither may the sun overtake the moon, nor can the night usurp the time of day, since all of them float through space [in accordance with Our laws]. 40 And a Sign for them is that We bore their race (through the Flood) in the loaded Ark; 41 and We have created for them the like of it whereon they ride; 42 We could have drowned them if We pleased, and none would have answered their cry for help, nor would they have been saved, 43 It is only Our Mercy (that rescues them) and enables enjoyment of life for a while. 44 But when it is said to them, "Beware of what is before you and what is behind you; perhaps you will receive mercy... " 45 Indeed, not one of your Lord's signs comes to them without their turning away from it, 46 And when it is said unto them: Spend of that wherewith Allah hath provided you, those who disbelieve say unto those who believe: Shall we feed those whom Allah, if He willed, would feed? Ye are in naught else than error manifest. 47 And they say: "When will this promise (i.e. Resurrection) be fulfilled, if you are truthful?" 48 They do not await except one blast which will seize them while they are disputing. 49 So they shall not be able to make a bequest, nor shall they return to their families. 50
