The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By oath of the night when it covers 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 and That which created the male and the female, 3 Verily your endeavour is diverse. 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 and he belied the finest 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 And his riches will not avail him when he falls headlong (into the Abyss). 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 who rejected the Truth, calling it falsehood and turned his back on it. 16 But save him who fears 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 only seeking the Face of his Lord the Most High; 20 and such, indeed, shall in time be well-pleased. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
