(O Prophet), did you see him who turned away (from the Path of Allah), 33 and grudgingly spends very little for the cause of God? 34 Has he knowledge of the unseen, so that he sees? 35 Or has he not been told of what is in the scrolls of Moses, 36 And [of] Abraham, who fulfilled [his obligations] - 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 And that for man shall be naught save that wherefor he endeavoureth. 39 and that in time [the nature of] all his striving will be shown [to him in its true light,] 40 whereupon he shall be requited for it with the fullest requital; 41 and that the final end is unto thy Lord, 42 that it is He who brings laughter and tears; 43 And that He it is Who causes death and gives life- 44 And that He created pairs, the male and the female 45 out of a [mere] drop of sperm as it is poured forth, 46 and that upon Him rests the second growth, 47 And that He it is Who enriches and gives to hold; 48 And that it is He Who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 And that it is He (Allah) Who destroyed the former 'Ad (people), 50 And destroyed the tribe of Thamud, not sparing anyone? 51 And the people of Noah before. Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing. 52 And He brought perdition upon the subverted cities 53 And covered them by that which He covered. 54 On which then of your Lord's signs do you cast doubt? 55 This is a Warner, of the (series of) Warners of old! 56 The Hour that was to come draws ever nearer. 57 None except Allah can avert it. 58 At this discourse then marvel ye? 59 Why do you laugh rather than weep? 60 Wasting your time in vanities? 61 Prostrate yourselves before God, and worship Him alone! ۩ 62
