S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Sad: By the Qur'an, Full of Admonition: (This is the Truth). 1 Nay, but those who disbelieve are in false pride and schism. 2 How many a generation We destroyed before them, and they cried out when it was no longer the time for escape! 3 They marvel now that, from among themselves, a warner has come to them. The unbelievers say: 'This is a lying sorcerer. 4 What! makes he the gods a single Allah? A strange thing is this, to be sure! 5 And the Council of them depart, saying 'Go! Be steadfast to your gods; this is a thing to be desired. 6 We have not heard of this in the last religion; this is surely an invention. 7 Has the reminder been revealed to him from among us? Nay! they are in doubt as to My reminder. Nay! they have not yet tasted My chastisement! 8 Or have they the treasures of the Mercy of your Lord, the All-Mighty, the Real Bestower? 9 Or is theirs the kingdom of the heavens and earth and of what between them is? Why, then let them ascend the cords! 10 They are only a small band among the defeated confederate tribes. 11 Before them there have belied the people of Nuh and the 'Aad, and Fir'awn the owner of the stakes. 12 and [the tribe of] Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan]: they all were leagued together, [as it were, in their unbelief:] 13 Each of them denied the messengers, so My penalty was justified. 14
