AND CALL to mind Our servant Job, [how it was] when he cried out to his Sustainer, "Behold, Satan has afflicted me with [utter] weariness and suffering!" 41 (And it was said unto him): Strike the ground with thy foot. This (spring) is a cool bath and a refreshing drink. 42 And We bestowed upon him new offspring, doubling their number as an act of grace from Us, and as a reminder unto all who are endowed with insight. 43 And We said, “Take a broom in your hand and strike her with it, and do not break your vow”; We indeed found him patiently enduring; what an excellent bondman! He is indeed most inclined. 44 And make mention of Our bondmen, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, men of parts and vision. 45 Verily We exalted them in consideration of a sterling quality: their remembrance of the Abode of the Hereafter. 46 In Our eyes they were of the chosen, virtuous people. 47 Remember [Our servants] Ishmael, Elisha, and Dhu'l-Kifl. Each of them was among the just. 48 This is a Reminder. The righteous shall have a good place to return to: 49 the Gardens of eternity with gates thrown wide open to them. 50 Therein will they recline (at ease): Therein can they call (at pleasure) for fruit in abundance, and (delicious) drink; 51 ۞ They will have bashful wives of equal age with them. 52 This is what you were promised on the Day of Reckoning: 53 This is Our provision for you, never to end. 54 This (is for the righteous). And lo! for the transgressors there with be an evil journey's end, 55 Hell; they shall enter it, so evil is the resting-place. 56 all this will be theirs; let them taste it -- a scalding, dark, foul fluid, 57 Taste the scalding water, pus, and other putrid things". 58 Their leaders will be told, "This band will also be thrown headlong with you into hell." Their leaders will exclaim, "May condemnation fall upon them! Let them suffer the torment of fire". 59 [And] they [who had been seduced] will exclaim: "Nay, but it is you! No welcome to you! It is you who have prepared this for us: and how vile a state to abide in!" 60 They will say: "O Lord, give him who has brought this upon us two times more the torment of Hell;" 61 And they will say: "What has happened to us that we see not men whom we used to number among the bad ones? 62 Is it [because] we took them in ridicule, or has [our] vision turned away from them?" 63 Verily, that is the very truth, the mutual dispute of the people of the Fire! 64
