The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining face to face. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and extended shade, 30 Gushing water, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
