T H (Taa Haa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ TA HA. 1 We did not bestow the Qur'an on thee from on high to make thee unhappy, 2 Nay, it is a reminder to him who fears: 3 a revelation from Him Who created the earth and the high heavens. 4 the Merciful willed to the Throne. 5 His is whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever on the earth and whatsoever is in between and whatsoever is underneath the earth. 6 Whether you say a thing aloud or inaudibly, He has knowledge of the secret and the hidden. 7 Allah, there is no god except He. To Him belong the most Beautiful Names. 8 Hath there come unto thee the story of Moses? 9 When he saw a fire and said to his family, "Stay here; indeed, I have perceived a fire; perhaps I can bring you a torch or find at the fire some guidance." 10 When he approached it, a voice called out: 11 I am thy Lord; put off thy shoes; thou art in the holy valley, Towa. 12 And I! I have chosen thee, hearken thou then to that which shall be revealed. 13 I am God, and there is no god but I, so serve Me, and observe acts of prayer to remember Me. 14 Lo! the Hour is surely coming. But I will to keep it hidden, that every soul may be rewarded for that which it striveth (to achieve). 15 So let not him who believeth not therein and followeth his own desire keep thee away therefrom lest thou perish. 16 "And what is that in your right hand, O Musa (Moses)?" 17 He said: it is my staff; I lean there on; and therewith beat down fodder for my sheep; and for me therein are other purposes. 18 Said He, 'Cast it down, Moses!' 19 So he threw it down, and all of a sudden, it turned into a fast-moving serpent. 20 "Catch it," said He, "and have no fear; We shall revert it to its former state. 21 "Now draw thy hand close to thy side: It shall come forth white (and shining), without harm (or stain),- as another Sign,- 22 "That We may show you (some) of Our Greater Signs. 23 Go to Firon, surely he has exceeded all limits. 24
