The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the great event, 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
