He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 you attend to him, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and in awe [of God] 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 Olives and dates, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 his mother, his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 with darkness overspread: 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
