The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 We have made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
