The people of Lut rejected the messengers. 160 When their brother Lut said unto them: fear ye not? 161 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 162 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 163 I seek of you no reward. My reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 164 What, do you come to the males of the world, 165 and leave your wives whom your Lord has created for you? You are a people who transgress all bounds." 166 They said: "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will be expelled (from the city)." 167 He said: verily I am of those who abhor your work. 168 [And then he prayed:] "O my Sustainer! Save me and my household from all that they are doing!" 169 So We saved him and his whole family 170 Except an old woman who lingered behind. 171 We destroyed the others 172 And We rained down upon them a rain, and evil was the rain on those warned. 173 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 174 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 175
