Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 by the retreating night, 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 except those of the right hand 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 About the criminals, 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 As they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
