O (you) Messengers! Eat of the Taiyibat [all kinds of Halal (legal) foods which Allah has made legal (meat of slaughtered eatable animals, milk products, fats, vegetables, fruits, etc.)], and do righteous deeds. Verily! I am Well-Acquainted with what you do. 51 And verily this religion of yours is one religion, and I am your Lord, so fear Me. 52 Yet they divided themselves into factions, each rejoicing in what they had. 53 So leave them to their ignorance for a time. 54 Do they think that We are helping them by giving them children and property? 55 We provide them with the means of competing with each other in virtuous deeds, but they do not realize this. 56 Surely they who from fear of their Lord are cautious, 57 and who believe in their Sustainer's messages, 58 who consider nothing equal to their Lord, 59 who spend their property for the cause of God, and whose hearts are afraid of their return 60 It is these who race for the good deeds, and they are foremost in them [e.g. offering the compulsory Salat (prayers) in their (early) stated, fixed times and so on]. 61 We charge no soul with more than it can bear. We have a record which clearly shows the truth and they will not be wronged. 62 Nay, but their hearts are covered (blind) from understanding this (the Quran), and they have other (evil) deeds, besides, which they are doing. 63 until We seize with Our chastisement those of them that are given to luxuriant ways. They will then begin to groan. 64 'Groan not today; surely you shall not be helped from Us. 65 For when My revelations were read out to you, you turned back on your heels and fled 66 In scorn thereof. Nightly did ye rave together. 67 Is it then that they do not ponder over what is said, or is it that there has come to them that which did not come to their fathers of old? 68 Or is it that they were unaware of their Messenger and were therefore repelled by him for he was a stranger to them? 69 Or do they say, "In him is madness?" Rather, he brought them the truth, but most of them, to the truth, are averse. 70 And should the truth follow their low desires, surely the heavens and the earth and all those who are therein would have perished. Nay! We have brought to them their reminder, but from their reminder they turn aside. 71 Or do you ask of them any tribute? In that case the tribute of your Lord is better, for He is the best of providers. 72 You are calling them to a Straight Way, 73 But those who believe not in the Hereafter turn away from the straight path. 74 ۞ And though We have mercy on them We may remove whatsoever of hurt is with them, surely they would persist in their exorbitance, wandering perplexed. 75 And indeed We grasped them with punishment, so neither did they submit themselves to their Lord, nor do they cry humbly. 76 To the extent that when We opened the gate of a severe punishment for them, they thereupon lie despairingly in it. 77
