The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O thou enveloped! 1 Arise, and warn, 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 and purify your clothing, 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 So that is a tough day. 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 Then he looked around, 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 over it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
