The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
There surely came over man a period of time when he was a thing not worth mentioning. 1 We have created the human from a (sperm) drop, a mixture, testing him; We made him to hear and see. 2 Surely We have shown him the way: he may be thankful or unthankful. 3 Indeed, for the unbelievers We have prepared chains, fetters and a Blazing (Fire). 4 Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, 5 A fountain from which the servants of Allah shall drink; they make it to flow a (goodly) flowing forth. 6 They fulfill their vow and dread a Day the evil whereof shall be widespreading. 7 they give food, despite their love for it, to the poor and orphans and captives, 8 We only feed you for Allah's sake; we desire from you neither reward nor thanks: 9 We are afraid of our Lord and the bitterly distressful day". 10 So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, 11 And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. 12 There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. 13 The shadows will bend over them, and low will hang the clusters of grapes. 14 Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. 15 goblets of silver that they have precisely measured. 16 There will they drink a cup flavoured with ginger 17 A fountain there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them shall go youths never altering in age; when you see them you will think them to be scattered pearls. 19 And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. 20 Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. 21 Surely this is a reward for you, and your striving shall be recompensed. 22
