The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sun and its morning brightness, 1 by the moon, which follows it, 2 Consider the day as it reveals the world, 3 And by oath of the night when it hides it 4 The heavens and its architecture, 5 And the earth and Him Who spread it, 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 and inspired it with its sin and its piety, 8 prosperous is he who purified it, 9 and he who suppresses it will be ruined. 10 The Thamud denied (the truth) in their perverseness 11 when the most wretched of them uprose, 12 Then Allah's Messenger warned them: “Hands off the she-camel and her drink!” 13 But they denied him and hamstrung her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them]. 14 He dreadeth not the sequel (of events). 15
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
