The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
25 verses, revealed in Mecca after Shattering (Al-Infitaar) before The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
