The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the mount 1 And by oath of a passage, written – 2 on fine parchment; 3 And the House frequented, 4 By the roof elevated. 5 And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 And the mountains will fly hither and thither. 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 who divert themselves with idle chatter: 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 (it will be said to them): 'This is the Fire which you belied! 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. 18 (And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do, 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 and in that [paradise] they shall pass on to one another a cup which will not give rise to empty talk, and neither incite to sin. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread. 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
