The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to the diminishers, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 (To be raised) for a Great Day? 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun. 18 But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? 19 a written record, 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Did not the disbelievers get repaid for what they used to do? 36
