The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 on a great day 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. 7 And what do you know, how the Sijjeen is! 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 A Register inscribed. 20 To which bear witness those brought nigh. 21 Behold, [in the life to come] the truly virtuous will indeed be in bliss: 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. 24 They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed. 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 Blended with the water of Tasnim, 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 And when they saw them, they said: "They have indeed gone astray." 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
