And the disbelievers said, “Will we, when we and our forefathers have turned into dust, be removed again?” 67 We have certainly been promised this, we and our fathers before; these are naught but stories of the ancients 68 Say: 'Journey in the land, then behold how was the end of the sinners.' 69 And grieve thou not for them, nor be in distress because of what they plot (against thee). 70 They say, 'When shall this promise come to pass, if you speak the truth?' 71 Say: Maybe there may have drawn near to you somewhat of that which you seek to hasten on. 72 Indeed Your Lord is exceedingly bountiful to mankind. Yet most of them do not give thanks. 73 Your Lord certainly knows whatever their hearts conceal or reveal. 74 And there is nothing hidden in the heaven and the earth, but is in a Clear Book (i.e. Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 75 Indeed this Qur'an explains to the children of Israel much of what they are at variance. 76 And lo! it is a guidance and a mercy for believers. 77 Indeed, your Lord will judge between them by His [wise] judgement. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Knowing. 78 Therefore rely on Allah; you are indeed upon the clear Truth. 79 Verily, you cannot make the dead to hear (i.e. benefit them and similarly the disbelievers), nor can you make the deaf to hear the call, when they flee, turning their backs. 80 just as thou canst not lead the blind [of heart] out of their error; none canst thou make hear save such as [are willing to] believe in Our messages, and thus surrender themselves unto Us. 81 ۞ And when the Word (promise) appears upon them, We shall bring forth for them a beast from the earth to speak to them – because the people were not accepting faith in Our signs. (This beast will rise from the earth, when the Last Day draws near.) 82
