۞ (Then will the command be given): “Muster all the wrong-doers and their spouses and the deities whom they used to serve 22 "Instead of Allah, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell); 23 And stop them, for they must be questioned. 24 What aileth you that ye help not one another? 25 Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment); 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side. 28 But they reply: 'Rather, you were not believers. 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom). 31 We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." 32 And verily, on that Day they all will share in their common suffering. 33 Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. 34 For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride, 35 And to say: What! shall we indeed give up our gods for the sake of a mad poet? 36 Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. 37 Now certainly you shall be tasting the painful chastisement, 38 You will only be recompensed according to your deeds.” 39 But for the sincere worshipers of Allah, 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 facing one another [in love] upon thrones of happiness. 44 There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 And with them will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes. 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 They will turn to each other and ask questions. 50 And a speaker from among them will say: verily there was unto me a mate. 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 He looked down and saw (his friend) in the midst of Hell. 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 But for the Favor of Allah I should have surely been among those who were arraigned (with you in Hell). 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?" 59 Surely this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this better as a welcome, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a torment for the unjust? 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 Its spathes are like the prickly pear. 65 and they eat of it, and of it fill their bellies, 66 And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of boiling water. 67 And thereafter verily their return is unto the Flaming Fire. 68 They found their fathers in error, 69 and they run in their footsteps. 70 So had many an earlier people gone astray, 71 and We sent among them warners; 72 Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, 73 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 74
