He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and fearfully, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 most exalted and purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 his wife and his children. 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
