He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And he feareth 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Not this way - this is the advice. 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 most exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Not one - he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olive and palm trees 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 and covered by darkness. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
