Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
