Therefore continue to give warning, for by the grace of your Lord, you are not a soothsayer or a madman. 29 Or do they say: 'He is a poet, we are waiting for some misfortune to befall him' 30 Say thou: "Await ye!- I too will wait along with you!" 31 Do their minds command them to do this, or are they an outrageous folk? 32 Or do they say, 'He has invented it?' Nay, but they do not believe. 33 Let them then produce a recital like unto it,- If (it be) they speak the truth! 34 Did they come into being without any creator? Or were they their own creators? 35 Or have they created the heavens and the earth? In fact they are certain of nothing. 36 Are with them the treasures of thy Lord! or are they the dispensers? 37 Or have they a stairway [into the heaven] upon which they listen? Then let their listener produce a clear authority. 38 What! The daughters for Him, and the sons for you? 39 Or is it that [they who reject thy message, O Muhammad, fear lest] thou ask of them a reward, so that they would be burdened with debt [if they should listen to thee]? 40 Is with them the Unseen, and they write it down! 41 Or are they planning a conspiracy? So the conspiracy will befall only upon the disbelievers. 42 Is theirs a god beside Allah? Hallowed be Allah from that which they associate! 43 And if they should see a portion of the heaven coming down, they would say: Piled up clouds. 44 Leave them then till they meet that day of theirs wherein they shall be made to swoon (with terror): 45 when their stratagem shall be of no avail to them, nor shall they be succoured. 46 And verily for those who do wrong there is a torment before that; but most of them know not. 47 And be thou patient under the judgment of thy Lord; surely thou art before Our eyes. And proclaim the praise of thy Lord when thou arisest, 48 and exalt Him in the night and at the declining of the stars. 49
