The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Thunder (Al-Ra'ad) before The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The All-merciful 1 has imparted this Qur'an [unto man]. 2 has created man, 3 and has taught him articulate speech. 4 The sun and the moon are in a reckoning. 5 And the plants and the trees prostrate (for Him). 6 He raised the heaven on high and set the scale. 7 In order that you may not corrupt the balance. 8 And keep up the balance with equity and do not make the measure deficient. 9 And the earth! He hath lain it out for the creatures. 10 Therein is fruit and palm trees having sheaths [of dates] 11 and grain growing tall on its stalks, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 And the jinns did He create from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 16 He is the Lord of the two easts and the Lord of the two wests. 17 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 18 He has given freedom to the two great bodies of water, so that they might meet: 19 In-between the twain is a barrier which they pass not. 20 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 21 There cometh forth from both of them the pearl and coral-stone. 22 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 23 To Him only belong the sailing ships, raised above the sea like hills. 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
