We rescued the Israelites from the humiliating torment 30 Inflicted by Pharaoh, for he was arrogant (even) among inordinate transgressors. 31 And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly, 32 and bestowed upon them the Signs wherein lay an evident test for them. 33 Most surely these do say: 34 "After we die, we shall never be raised to life again. 35 So then, bring forth our forefathers [as witnesses,] if what you claim is true!" 36 Are they better, or the people of Tubba? And those who were before them? We destroyed them; they were indeed criminals. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for mere play, 38 We did not create them except in Truth. But most of them do not know. 39 The Day of Judgement is your promised day of meeting, 40 (when wrong will be distinguished from right). On this day friends will be of no benefit to one another, nor will they receive any help 41 save those to whom God shows mercy. Surely, He is the Mighty, the Merciful One. 42
