The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I swear by the sun and its brilliance, 1 By the moon when it followeth it, 2 By the Day as it shows up (the Sun's) glory; 3 By the night when it envelopeth it, 4 And the heaven and Him Who built it, 5 And the earth and Him Who spread it, 6 And by oath of the soul and by oath of Him Who made it proper. 7 And inspired it with the wickedness thereof and the piety thereof, 8 prosperous is he who purified it, 9 And he fails that corrupts it! 10 In their presumptuous insolence the Thamud called the Truth a lie 11 When the most wretched of them was sent forth. 12 Then the apostle of Allah said unto them: beware of the she-camel of Allah and her drink. 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 for none [of them] had any fear of what might befall them. 15
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
