The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And ye are classes three. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 a host of the ancients 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and extended shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
