The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
