Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 and couches raised high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
